Understand the difference
Artificially produced vitamins, minerals and nitrogen compounds maybe added to the nutrient medium. Due to the additional effort in the process and lower output quantities, the organic product has a higher price than conventional yeast flakes.
Are There Differences In Nutritional Values?
Yes, the products differ significantly in terms of nutritional values. The nutrient content of organic yeast flakes is considerably lower than that of conventional products as shown in our table below*
Conventional Yeast Flakes vs Purely Organic Yeast Flakes
Compared to organic yeast flakes, conventional yeast flakes can be treated and enriched during the production process. Adding acid (table salt, hydrochloric acid) and neutralization with (sodium) lye accelerate the yeast cells’ dissolution process, so-called plasmolysis and acid hydrolysis.
Nutritional Information
only specific nutrient media can be used with organic yeast.
Additions of amino acids, vitamins or minerals are not permitted.
There are significant differences, especially in the area of vitamin values.
